True To Sound & Kanye West – Lost in the World

December 22, 2010

Just a heads up. I’ve written a piece over at True To Sound reviewing my favourite album of the year, Ratatat’s LP4. Go check it out 🙂

In the meanwhile here’s a track off Kanye’s album. Featuring Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, “Lost in the World” makes excellent use of autotune unlike 808’s where perhaps it was a bit overused at times. It’s definitely up there as one of the best albums in recent memory; track after track Ye keeps producing quality sound.

Check it out over at Culture Bully, which also has a pretty decent albums of the year list.

Adrian Lux – Teenage Crime [Official Video]

December 20, 2010

The newly released “Teenage Crime” from Swedish Adrian Lux, makes me wanna chill at the beach all day long then hit the clubs all night. Signed to Axtone, founded by Axwell, Adrian Lux is in good hands, as the label has released tracks by well known acts Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, and Dirty South among others.

Check out the video below, and grab your tracks over at iTunes.

Nicki Minaj – Blazin’ (Feat. Kanye West)

December 20, 2010

This track is sick and deserves to have the sound pumped up whenever it’s played. Good to see at least a few hits on this album of the ilk of her feature on Kanye West’s “Monster”.

Download “Blazin'” over at Earmilk, and you can grab the album Pink Friday, here.

Bag Raiders – So Demanding

December 20, 2010

Off the back of their international hit “Shooting Stars”, the Aussie electro group Bag Raiders present an interesting, if not slightly underwhelming self-titled album. Then again, this may be a skewed view due to the huge success of “Shooting Stars”. None of the tracks seem to have that instant catch, but their suitability for the background as the sun sets before a night out, earn the album multiple listens straight through. Eventually, a few standouts emerge, such as “Sunlight”, “Golden Wings”, “Castles in the Air” and of course “So Demanding”. “So Demanding” sounds eerily similar to productions that Chromeo have put out, and to have that sort of likeness bodes well for this band on the cusp of even greater success.

Stream and download “So Demanding” below, and you can grab their album here.
