The new ‘treadmills’ video. These guys are way too good at this.

Volta Cab – Clarissa

September 30, 2010

It takes until almost 2 minutes into the track to really get going, but from then on you know that the whole 7 minutes are worth listening to…over, and over again. This track puts you in a bit of a trance, the production is amazing and it is layered extremely well. The drawn out build up to the 5 minute point crescendo is superb. I think what makes this track work is that it fits so many moods…a chilled night with friends…after an intense weekend of partying…or just something in the background to think to. Either way, check out the soundcloud and pages, as it’s not every day you hear chill electro music from Russia.

And, of course, a track that needs no background, but seems to be the perfect complement to Volta Cab, without breaking the flow too much, The Xx’s “Islands”.

Close your eyes. Drift away. This chilled indie/electro mix, with the smooth (yet minimal) vocals can put you in a completely different place.

The MashMaticians – Lisztomania 2

September 22, 2010

From DSL to Classixx to the original version featured on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, “Lisztomania” has taken over the iPods of the avid scenesters driving the music blogs and party playlists. The MashMaticians, on their debut album The MashoChist, are a welcome addition to the plethora of remixes floating around. What particularly caught my attention was the syncopated synthbeat that places it apart from other remixes. It lies somewhere in between DSL’s jolting version, and the lighter remix by Classixx.

I keep thinking that I’ve had enough of anything Lisztomania related, however new tracks always surface that make me keep bobbing my head.

Check out the track over at and be sure to give the other tracks a listen, they are well worth it.

Summer days…almost

September 22, 2010

The weather’s starting to heat up in Sydney town and this track by Melbourne MC Pez just seems right for the time. When I heard Pez support Lupe Fiasco at the Enmore in 2009, the crowd went off when this popular track was played, and was the perfect local choice (along with Muph and Plutonic) for the superstar that is Lupe. It works so well because everyone can relate to the simplicity of relaxing and listening to music with your friends, enjoying the moment.

“We all know you’ve got your friends to make your energy last”

It’s been out for a while now, but always keeps a good mood going when it comes on. Have you noticed that something you are worrying about at the moment seems to not matter once it has passed? For me, this track helps me realise that and stop stressing out…you can’t help but relax and enjoy. It’s all about enjoying the moment with those around you. Hopefully it gets you over hump day.

This blog is going to be about music but from time to time I’ll post other things that I come across that hopefully you’ll find interesting.

The mood I’m in at the moment is one that’s a bit hectic so when iTunes shuffle comes up with such a relaxing track, it feels like the perfect start to this blog.
